My performances

talent show 2022

October 2022

“It’s Over Isn’t It?”, from Steven Universe.

Ilai, one of my great friends came from Brazil and since he is a great pianist, we decided to jam. This is a cut from our long jam. This song is from the cartoon “Steven Universe” and is one of my favorites from the show. Although the recording was very fun, it is apparent some tension in my voice and going flat in some parts, specially when we sing together/harmonize.

This recording mostly shows a layback attempt to make music with my dear friend and our love for the soundtrack of “Steven Universe”.

Fashion show 2023

Spooky by Dusty Springfield

For the opening of the school’s fashion show we were invited to perform. While we were searching for songs to play, I came across with Spooky on my Spotify suggestions. Since everyone from the class liked it, we started to practice. We practiced during the music classes for about a month before the show.

We were all very collaborative and having fun when play and it was a blast to perform with a song I both felt comfortable and enjoyed. I think we settled the mood for the show and caught the attention of the public, specially with the great instrumental breaks in between the singing.

Talent Show 2023

Feeling Good, version of Michael Bublee

This is my interpretation of the Michael Bublee version of Feeling Good. It’s always difficult for me to find more mainstream songs to sing in public performances, but I believe that was the right choice for both my range and the audience.

Although the recording is not the best, I believe I was able to convey the freeing and confidence of the song (even though I was shaking from anxiety).

This song was a bit out of my comfort zone, with the belting and strong high notes, and because of the nerves, the execution was not the best. There was a lot of tension in the high notes and I wasn’t able to be perfectly on pitch.

Overall, it was a lot of fun to perform on stage and the feedback I got from the public was overwhelmingly positive. Even with some slips, it had a successful outcome.

Singing Exam 2023

Grade 57/60+Honors

There are Worse Things I Could Do from Grease

This song from the musical Grease was a suggestion from my singing teacher and it was challenge I am glad to have been open to.

I love to express the emotions of the songs I sing, and it was a perfect song for that. Both the soft parts and the belting are opportunities to convey the feelings of the character, and I believe I was able to truly connect with it.

I normally am not inclined to perform musical theater material, but it was a great way to work on my weaknesses, specially belting and singing without tension in my mixed register.

It’s always exciting to perform for a public, and it was great to perform in such as beautiful scenery in the Parc of Hesperange. I was also gladly surprised with my result in the exam, in which I scored the highest grade in the singing department of the Music School, with a 57/60 and honors.

Music PreBac 2024

For my Pre Bac performance, I initially wanted to sing “Maria”, from “West Side Story”. Unfortunately, I had a really bad throat ache the two weeks prior to the exam. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to perform at all for the exam.

Gladly, the inflammation got better a bit less than a week before the exam, but my voice was still recovering. So, after talking with my teacher, he suggested the song “When I Was Your Man”, by Bruno Mars, since we have been practicing it before the Winter break and it sits comfortably on my range.

With his support and feedback, I was able to perform the song with his accompaniment in the piano and perform one of my favorite bossa nova songs.

It was better to do two less challenging songs, giving that I had to change my songs and was recovering. Overall, I think it was a good performance. I was able to sing safely and convey the emotions of the songs, and got a very positive feedback from the public and with my grades.

Performance Open to Public

From the Start by Laufey and Misty by Ella Fritzgerald

I was invited to open the Monday Morning Concerts at the first breaks in our school. Initially I was supposed to sing with one of my classmates, but unfortunately he got sick the night before and I had to find other songs to sing about 20 minutes before going on stage.

Since the show must go on, I chose two songs that I was comfortable in my repertoire. The added tension shows a bit in my delivery, mostly in the first song. But taking in consideration all the circumstances, I am happy to have gone through with the performance and be able to sing two songs that I absolutely adore.

Audition for Eide’s Got Talent 2024

Approved for finals on the 07/05/2024

Higher key of Misty by Ella Fritzgerald

Misty is one of my favorite songs of all time and I was thrilled to work on it during my singing lessons and to audition for the school’s talent show with it. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to have a live audition for it, since I had a surgery done the week prior, but happily I was feeling strong enough to do so.

Because of the surgery, I didn’t have much time to practice a new song for the audition. Since I was working on Misty the month before, I decided it was the best choice. I am completely in love with Jazz and how to perform the style in my own way and I think I was able to do so in this audition that granted me a spot for the finals!

Vernissage of the Art Exposition Traveling

Garota de Ipanema and Eu Sei Que Vou Te Amar by Vinicius de Moraes
Folhetim by Chico Buarque and Onde Anda Você by Vinicius de Moraes

For the Vernissage of the Art Department, my art teacher invited me to sing. The theme of the exposition was Traveling and Migration, and being a migrant myself, I was glad to share a bit of my culture. I grew up listening and living Bossa Nova, so having the opportunity to introduce it to people who might have never knew it before is a true privilege.

I just had a few days to prepare, so I chose songs that were on my repertoire for a long time and also fit the intimate mood of the vernissage. Having to control the balance of the instrumental and the output of the mic at the same time I was singing was challenge, and also made the transition between the songs less smooth than it could’ve been, but it all worked out at the end.

I was a bit nervous at the beginning, but as I kept singing and was able to see the interest of the public growing, I felt more confident to let it loose and have fun.

P.S: The third video there is a recording I did of the songs back in 2020. It’s interesting to see how much my voice, technique and presence has evolved throughout the years, and yet, my love for Brazilian music only grew.

Eide’s Got Talent 2024

Goddess by Laufey

Singing a slower song was a tricky move in the talent show, but it completely paid off. Laufey is one of my favorite musicians currently, and it was a good choice for my style and vocal range.

This song is very challenging both in delivery and technically and I am proud of the result. Although not perfect, it showcases my strengths in interpretation and dynamics.

Specially in the beginning I was very tense, but as the song carried, I was too, carried by the emotions of the song (what also played against me when was time to switch from mixed voice to head voice in the end of the song).

Globally I am glad to have participated in the talent show, it was super fun to perform fully on my style and to win 4th place as a result of it. I am really proud to be part of projects that show how much talent there are in all spaces, and in our school is no exception. Every performance was unique and beautiful.
